It was the year of 2006 that I, along with millions of other fans the became enamored by the fictional small town in west Texas. Dillion was the name of this football-thirsty town that pretty much came to a screeching halt each Friday night during the fall! Not unlike real life, people of Texas really love their high school football.
The television series was called Friday Night Lights and featured a few well-known actors such as Kyle Chandler(Coach Eric Taylor), Connie Britton (Tami Taylor) and Taylor Kitsch (Tim Riggins), Michael B. Jordan (Vince Howard). The series also featured Amiee Teagarden (Julie Taylor), Gaius Charles (Brian “Smash” Williams), Zach Gilford (Matt Saracen), Scott Porter (Jason Street), Minka Kelly (Lyla Garrity), Adrianne Palicki (Tyra Collette), Jesse Plemons (Landry Clarke), Jurnee Smollett (Jess Merriweather), Matt Lauria (Luke Cafferty), Madison Burge (Becky Sproles), Grey Damon (Hastings Ruckle), Derek Phillips (Billy Riggins).
Oh yeah! I can’t forget one of my favorite characters! Brad Leyland plays the role of Buddy Garrity. Buddy is one of those in your face, medaling big-money boosters who want to win at all cost. I think Buddy would sell his soul to the devil himself just to win another state championship! We will discuss the chaos, that is Buddy Garrity in future articles.
Friday Night Lights will always be my favorite television series of all time. This series had so much to offer. Even if you were not a fan of football, the multitude of storylines could keep just about anyone captivated throughout the entire five seasons.
Even as I type, I get fired up just thinking of the beginning of the pilot episode where the radio voice of “slammin'” Sammy Mead waking up the sleepy little town as they ready for another Friday night on the gridiron!
Be sure to check back in regularly, as I will dive into many of the storylines that made this series such a huge success.
